I like the way you think on this one. I am very ambivalent about this issue. I have endless empathy for a woman who finds herself in the situation of carrying a child she doesn't want. I would say, though, that there is NO SUCH THING as an "unwanted child". The pregnant woman may not want it, but there are, in North America at any rate, waiting lists two years long of people who want to adopt an infant. Someone out there desperately wants that baby.

Having worked with people who have been infertile for years, I know just how desperately they want that baby. So, no, it's not unwanted.

My personal response to this issue is not to picket abortion clinics and thus traumatize women who are already traumatized, but to offer a home and support to a pregnant woman with nowhere else to go.

I know someone who's done this twice now. Without the support, these women would have undoubtedly have chosen to abort. Because of the support, two lovely children now grace this planet, two young women are back into their own lives without the trauma of abortion, and two other families have the child they craved.

If everyone who was opposed to abortion did this a few times in their lives, I wonder how many fewer there'd be each year?

However in cases where their abnormalities in the babies formation , I think it should be done and then there's the whole case or rape. Many times the vicitms don't want to have the rapists child and really I think that is a serious Grey area!!

I don't find therz anything wrong with it ... why to bring that child into existence when u know u dont want him ... or cant take care of him ... or u gonna curse him forever .... Even if tiz after 22 days ... it's better kill that nothing instead of bringing him up to be nothing or as a nothing!

i am pro abortion too.... even though i have not thought much of the ethical reasons for both agreeing or disagreeing with abortion.. all i have thought till now is that if u cannot bring up a child and yet give birth to it.... then anyways the childs life is wasted.. .it will feel unwanted always.... u have already killed it then... by making it an unwanted child....

u can never give love to such a child.... and when that child realizes that it was unwanted it will die or it will change drastically...

I am pro-choice. There is way too many unwanted children around. I see it like an egg. I've cracked open many a fertilzed egg and ate it.
But, when I crack one open and a thing that looks like a chick plops out, makes me cringe.

What does this have to do w/abortion? Abort them only when they look like egg things, not baby things.

I agree, it's not that hard to keep from getting P.G. (even if you have lots & lots of sex). Unfortantely, young people don't think it will happen to them & hindsight is no good when the squalling thing is peeing all over the place & they have to take care of it for years & years.

I have no faith in GOD (whatever your fav. version is) It is up to humans to not over-populate to planet w/ unwanted children. It is very easy to sit up on a mountain & pass judgement.

What really irks me in America is: the people who scream the loudest about not killing babies, are usally pretty good at killing adults.

This of course is my own opinion, & we aren't arguing about it, which is nice.

Watching my father die blurred the lines between life and death. The docs said when he stopped breathing he was dead, then they changed it to when his heart stopped. What about brain activity? I can't figure it out. So, when does life begin if I can't even tell when it ends?

Then I watch what my friends go through with pregnancy. Some had gestational diabetes, arthritis so bad they couldn't get out of bed, their hair fell out, their breasts oozed pus, they had violent mood swings, they were throwing up for 9 months straight, and they never fully recovered. I know one who had a rare condition that required her ENTIRE set of female reproductive organs to be removed because they were pulled outside of her body with the birth. She has no sex life now and feels like she's not a woman anymore. How can we force someone to go through that? There's always the risk of death to the mother, even in this day and age.

I'm pro-choice, but it's not something I say without a heavy heart.

Right or wrong..i think the most important factor which coms into play when the question of abortion is raised is the circumstances of the couple involved..Honour of family,personal future..financial strength ..everything comes into play..and very often they win if the child is out of the wedlock...

But then there are other medical cases too..where the child is aborted to save the mother and when the kid to be born is physically retarded...

I guess ..as you said nothing can be categorised intp black or white..

But a couple, who didn't take any precautions, and gets pregnant... they have to take a moment to think of those who wants a baby but can't conceive. This also goes to those who dump their new born babies. I wonder how they don't see through their baby's eyes...

I dun really know on what measure should i even judge when it comes to abortion. i mean people come from all kinds of circumstances just as you have mentioned. I have come across people who are totally against it though. like kill! kill! totally and can be pretty extreme.

and i didn't know that its only after 22 days will the fetus receive his/her heartbeat. Thats informative..:) thanks!

I've known some people who have gone through with abortion some due to unsucessful growth of the fetus and some due to hard & challenging situations. and All of them who walked out of it did not walk out satisfied but with a broken heart after each experience. and i feel in no place to judge without even wearing those shoes to start. Its sad though. the whole thing abt abortion and allowing a life to be gone or having to experience such a walk.
