should i just say to heck with it, or...
I would love to post pictures of myself, sweetie and my family. But I can’t. I started this blog with the intention of being honest. To express my thoughts as they occur. To document the moments that define my life. I am glad I can still express my thoughts. Though sometimes, they have to be censored, considering the audience, some who are a part of my life.
There are some hits on my blog that are too close to home. Too close for comfort. Anonymity is required because of that.
If I post pictures of myself, post such as this can no longer be written. That would mean I am suppressing my thoughts and opinions. I cannot, for the life of me, imagine what would happen if this person finds out what I really, honestly think. I am not worried about their response towards me, as the worse that will happen is the end of our acquaintance (which, come to think about it, is what I secretly desire), but about the effect it would have on others who are in our mutual social circle.
So I have to decide whether to delete such posts, or to maintain them and restrain myself from posting personal photos. Or I can create a totally different blog altogether! Ah. Choices, choices.
I wonder what I will decide.

Understand.
I decided in the end to post personal photographs etc.
I too know exactly how you feel. I have just been careful not to give my blog address to people I don't want reading it, but I also try not to write posts that I might regret.
My censoring dilemma? I want to use our real names. My children have the cutest names (according to me, of course) and I want to be able to share that, and yet, i need to maintain some sort of anonymity for their sakes.
I could not post without pictures though...that's what life is all about, the pictures...the memories!
It's a tough choice, just go with what makes you most comfortable and happy. It's your blog, and you don't want it to become something that weighs you down, nor do you want it to be something totally made up. You'll find the right balance.
Hi Still Figuring Out, you have discussed something that has been playing on my mind for a while now. How much to say? I'm still a one blog person (I find it difficult to maintain numerous blogs unlike our mutual friend AquaM) and I want to talk about so many issues that I don't know how people will react to. It's, I admit - confusing.
As of now, I have decided that for now I have to self-censor many of my thoughts (just so that I don't hurt anyone I know) but I'm still trying to figure out a way for telling stuff as it is. Having multiple blogs doesn't work for me because a single profile connects all those blogs anyway! True anonymity like walking on the streets of New York is difficult to achieve.
Hello Still Figuring Out. I, too, constantly think about what I should and shouldn't post because I teach fourth grade in a public school. I don't use my birth name on the blog because I don't want my students doing a Google search and finding out all great details about my twisted sense of humor (thanks for the compliment, by the way!!). I think it's a good idea to keep some anonymity for several reasons: 1)You never know who's reading the blog; 2)You'll feel more comforable posting certain things; and 3) personally, I think it's more interesting NOT to know everything about the people who write the posts. It leaves room for imagination.
O well...what am I doing up at this hour (to borrow one of your post titles)? Lightning just woke me up so I decided to check the blogosphere. Thanks for visiting my site. Hope to see you again!
Cheers,
Bhakti
thanks for sharing your thoughts and opinions, shay, miladysa, LM, afj, bhakti. i do know that i would love to share important upcoming events (wedding, pregnancy, birth, babies) in my blog. hopefully this blog. i`m sure i will figure out a solution soon. or maybe not. ;)
I know exactly what you mean. I started blogging because I wanted a place to vent and for people to react to what I was saying. If I was mad or upset I wanted someone to say it's okay to be mad or whatever. But I told my family about my blog and they found it and it caused a huge rift with me and my sister. It was horrible, mainly because she never told me why she was mad at me. I honestly had no idea she was reading my blog. I never hated or dispised her but from my blogs that is what she took from it. People are going to interprut your blog the way they want so if you are worried about offending people then I would say don't do it. It's not worth the seperation.
I would have a private blog that you rant and complain on, then a more open blog with pictures and your daily life. I love to put pictures on my blog and I think it helps readers identify with you and relate to you.
That is just my two cents.
Don't censor yourself. If you feel more comfortable with not posting pictures than keep it that way.
I just said F it a long time ago and posted pictures, but I still will write whatever I want--even if my dad reads it.
The only thing I do censor myself on sometimes is really personal stuff regarding Cody or something.
You have to draw the line somewhere and where is up to you.
in a way u are HINDER by this BUT ultimately is YOUR BLOG ! u have the freedom to do it.
Just like me. Initially i use initial but most of it i USE NAME & i DONT CARE as those that desrve to be compliment ARE COMPLIMENTED but on the otherhand I WILL BITCH/BASTARD her if she/he desrves a BITCHING/BASTARDing session
