describe your weekend
Harry Potter.
Waaaa-aaaa. (that`s supposed to be me crying).
To those of you who have read it, you will know why I am so sad.
I got the book from my sis on Friday evening. Started reading it Friday night. After many detours, finished it on Monday morning at 2.17. I know because I checked. And kind of freaked out because that meant I only had about 3 hours of sleeping time before I wake up. In case you are wondering why I wake up so early on Monday morning, compared to my usual 7, I’ll write on it some other time.
One person though, knows why.
You culprit.
I love this book. Since Harry is a teenager now, JKR could not avoid the romantic bits. Of course, it is not the Julie Garwood romantic kind. But it was sweet all the same. She reminded me how it felt when I was 18 and was falling for the love of my life. It was just so sweet.
Those who love to read will understand when I say that I could almost imagine the scenes as the story unfolds. and I can`t help imagining Harry as
and Ron as
and Hermione as
As exciting it was to start on this 6th book, it is just as frustrating to know I have to wait for another 2 years (hopefully shorter, not longer!) to read the final one. And no, sis! I’m not going to let you read it first! Ok, maybe I will…*sigh* again, the laments of being the older sister.
Anyway, I was thinking about it and realized that, gosh, by the time the final books comes out, I might be very much married and pregnant, even! Haha! How cool will that be? I kind of like the picture: me, pregnant, with my feet up, sipping lemonade while reading the latest adventure of Harry and his gang. Yup, I like that picture very much.
I’m already planning to read the HP series to my kids as their bedtime stories.
Harry Potter rocks. Yeah.
And I still feel like crying!

My youngest sister reads the series faithfully...so of course she couldn't help but catch me up on everything that's happened, even though I've never read any of the books. She just can't help it! She was quite tearful too.
I finished 4 last weekend... I'm working on 5 right now... I'll hopefully be able to begin 6 this weekend. Then we can catch up and cry about it together.. even though I already have a pretty good idea who dies.
I can't wait til movie 4 comes out...
You are probably right about 7... hopefully I'll be sipping lemonade right along with ya... And my kids will be getting the HP bedtime stories too!
I got teary too. But you know there's more going on than meets the eye--always is.
I don't want to wait either. Oh and I have decided my kids will read not only Harry Potter, but Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matlida), and Charlotte's Web. They WILL!
I too visualize the scenes, but still have my own pictures, not the movie.
Oh gosh...I am so worried that I am going to accidently read something about the book that I haven't gotten to yet...I am on page 399. I couldn't stop reading yesterday.
I am heading back to my bed right now to dive into the last couple hundred pages....I love it so much!
I'm having a hard time getting through it because it's so close to being over -- I don't want it to end! So, I'm only on page 194, reading a chapter per day and already I feel like it's going too quickly.
Through reliable sources at the library I work for, I've heard that Book 7 is actually complete already, but there is no estimated release date.
In between, I plan to attack the books by Avi (another youth author) who is supposed to be just as enthralling. We'll see about that -- I highly doubt it!
sis: why am i not suprised :p
jay: any potter fan would be teary...bwaaaaaaaa.
mel: hey, i was thinking of re-reading the series. but am still in the post-half blood prince mode.
cheryl: you think so? i wonder what suprises book 7 holds.
anne: don`t worry. i think most of potter fans who write on their blog try not to reveal any spoilers.
mnt: welcome :) and i admire your self discipline. one chapter per day? i could never do it!
Hmmm, I haven't read any of these books but I saw the first movie and was bored to tears. Isn't that awful?
bored to tears?
understandable. i think, in order to enjoy HP, you need to read the books. the movies, i`m afraid, are a very much of edited versions.
hi, thanks for being a regular on my blog!
Never ever do i think has any book/series has had an impact as this one. Reading the post and the subsequent comments, i confess i am totally stunned!
And hey, girls here are already planning about kids n all. I really am perplexed what will i be reading to my kids. Maybe, i will just take them out for a jog or a short stint in the gym. :p
Never read the books, never cared enough to follow what the "rest of the world is crazy about". This is no way is an attempt to trivialize your passion for the book. But to be a fan is to be not a human. A collective corporate disillusionment by bringing out books in series, movies in sequels, cd's in double packs, shirts with logos.
I believe a human being himself is the most important celebrity, his/her life the most stunning story, his/her existence the greatest anamoly and thy vision the hottest commodity.
Be a fan of urself, not in vain, but in wonder, be a fan of this Earth and this Universe. Search, Observer and then Reflect with thy inflections. Harry Potter will then be the most trivial story you have ever read.
I was sad also with the "incident", but I saw it coming a number of books back. I have my theories about Snape, though. Email me if you want to theorize with me...
I finished last night at 1 am. I was crying. It was so good!
AHHHH, I am so dying to get this book but haven't had a chance.....now I am kinda nervous, I cry enough on my own without having a book help me out :-)
I want to read the new book...its sitting on my night stand, but the final is in a week!
KN: figures!
subtronic: thanks for visiting.
ellen: will do so!
anne: now you know why i was upset, huh. can u imagine we have to wait for 2 more years for the next book? *sigh*
shan`celle: hey, if you are a fan, you MUST read this book. it`s hilarious too!
als: thanks for visiting, and i admire your self discipline! i would have given in to the temptation!
What the hell is this crap?
Harry Potter is by no means a "good book". Rowling has not got a refined writing style at all and all she has done is stumbled upon a very catchy storyline.
I find it very hard that you actually like reading when you think this is a good book. Stop telling fibs to us all, we all know you are a simpleton
koh: you are one sad character.
go and get a life.
I got it on thursday and have been making my way through slowly in between working. I love to read anything and everything (simple or complicated) and do not have a hard time understanding the attraction. I agree that Rowlings writing style may not be refined (read stuffy) but that doesn't make it unenjoyable to read. Anyway, I'm in an argumentative mood, hope you don't mind :-) As far as what I think of this book I am glad that it is not as dark as book 5. I really enjoyed 4 (its my favorite so far) and was kinda disappointed by 5. I understand that it needs to be somewhat serious, but I think in book 5 she went way overboard. Oh well, back to reading :-)
I dont mind people who are argumentative, so long as it doesnt entail someone telling me I am a sad character and then not backing it up
