The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh

People Watching

I like to “people-watch”. I can’t do it often though because of the sixth sense everybody seems to have.

It amazes me how people realize they are being watched, even from behind. I go unnoticed for maybe…2 minutes. Then the person I was watching turn around, and I have to turn the other way. I know. Some of us don’t like to be stared at. Hey, I become flustered if someone is looking at me too. I always wonder “What? Do I have something ugly, yellow and red on my nose?” when I catch people staring at me.

:)

But people watching can be a hobby for some. Like me. Sometimes I try to create a life line for those who attract my attention. The expression on people’s face and their gestures can be quite telling. I wonder if others can tell the same about me.

I love to watch babies. And youngsters. They are the easiest to read. Their emotions are unguarded. And for whatever reasons I can’t` comprehend, I feel happy watching kids.

Some individuals get defensive when they realize they are being watched. At times I worry if I will be confronted by those I look at. What am I to answer then? That I like to watch people? Isn’t that a fascinating idea? I wonder how people will response if I tell them exactly that. As long as I don’t end up with a broken nose.

It`s also easy to identify a couple of who have had an argument. They guy will normally look to the side and try to appear normal. While failing miserably. The girl will usually have the saddest look on her face. And she will be staring either staring into space or downwards.

As for myself, I have absolutely no clue if I’m a master at masking my emotions, or am obvious like an open book.

My other half can read me well. I can’t get pass through him. I can swear on heaven and earth that there is nothing bothering me, but he can tell that I am actually upset about something.

The thought that others can tell what I’m feeling makes me feel vulnerable.

Is that how other people feel when they realize they are being watched?

Its wierd how things are universal, human nature almost.
I wonder if it could be considered a form of escapism.

Have a great day

People watching is my favorite activity in the world! I so know what you mean about everyone having a sixth sense though...I can stare at someone from 100 yards a way, and they somehow feel my eyes on them and turn around. Strange, isn't it? But I think that I'm fascinated by human nature (thus my obsession with blogs, reality TV, etc.) and because of that, I love watching human interaction. Anyway, great post and great blog!

We were at this big four day concert last weekend and I would just zone out watching all the people walking by. Sometimes your amazed that people get up and walk out like that in the morning.

I watch people as much as I can. It's fascinating watching them interact. Although I kinda have a 'rough' look to me which sometimes makes people 'uneasy'. That's the last thing I want. So I usually have to flash a gigantic grin if the catch me :D. I think watching children is nice (not in a MJ way..) as they exude so much innocence and naivety. It's amazing to see at my age.

This is so true. I do love to watch people and could do it all day. Blogging is a sort-of people watching...and so is Reality TV (totally agree with Marissa). Both of which I am addicted! ha!

I think the vulnerability comes from thinking others can see our flaws.
